LEFT SIDE, STRONG SIDE CHALLENGE!

This October 7th will be the 4 year anniversary of the day Jed lost full mobility of his left and dominant side, due to complications of removing a tumor from his brain. Although we are VERY grateful for how far he's come, and what he's achieved since then, it's still been a difficult journey for Jed. Everyday things that we take for granted, are daunting or sometimes impossible tasks for Jed without his left side working properly. He mostly has trouble with his hand. After meeting with the neurosurgeon this year, he said there is still hope to get back more dexterity if Jed only uses his left side, instead of compensating with his right. The most success is within 5 years of surgery, and we are on our last year! Jed wants to play ball with his kids. Instead of telling them what to do, he wants to show them what to do. (Just imagine throwing and catching with your other hand). This picture was taken 1 week before Jed's surgery, and was the last time he was able to fully use his left hand to throw to our son, who is now 5. Jed would also like to excel and move up in his job, and needs to get as much mobility as possible to reach his goals that have a lot of physical demands! The purpose of this page is to pledge one day for the next 30 days, starting October 7th, to use your opposite hand or just one hand (dominant or not) for one whole day. Then on this page, write about your day and post pics and videos if you want (changing a diaper, eating, doing your hair, etc.). Jed is going to use only his left side for every day that someone pledges a day. It is a hard and lonely road, and it will help him see and hear of others knowing how he feels, even if it's for one day. (by the way, you can take more than one day if you're really up for a challenge!) I am going to take October 7th! If you want to participate, please post in advance what day you are going to do. THANK YOU for participating! It is for a good cause and if anything will help you feel more grateful for all the little things that we have, that so many that suffer from paralysis, strokes, surgery, accidents, and other illnesses don't. Hopefully by the end of this challenge, we can all be better than we were yesterday, and Jed can once again have his Left side- his strong side!
